Introducing Our Bitcoin Zambia Journey

In 2022, something powerful was set in motion when Bitcoin advocate and educator Anita Posch visited Zambia. Her trip, part of the Bitcoin for Fairness (BFF) initiative, was more than just a workshop or a talk — it was the spark that ignited a local movement.

Inspired by Anita’s visit and the values of Bitcoin for Fairness, a small group of us came together with a shared vision: to build a space where Zambians could learn about Bitcoin, explore its possibilities, and develop local solutions using open, decentralized technologies.

That small spark has grown into a flame.

With the ongoing support and encouragement from Bitcoin for Fairness, what began as a local extension has evolved into a fully autonomous and independent initiative. Over the past months and years, we’ve run monthly Bitcoin meetups, technical workshops, a BitDevs session, and collaborated with both local and international organizations that share our belief in economic empowerment, privacy, and financial inclusion.

Our work has also inspired the creation of new initiatives — including Bitcoin Banamayo, a women-led Bitcoin education initiative.

This site is our new home — a place where we’ll:

  • Share our journey and stories
  • Publish educational content about Bitcoin
  • Highlight community voices and experiences
  • Showcase collaborations and projects we’re involved in
  • And raise awareness about how Bitcoin can be used in Zambia and beyond to solve real problems

We’re just getting started. But this movement is no longer just about one visit, one person, or one event — it’s about all of us, building, learning, and growing together.

Welcome to our story. Welcome to Bitcoin Zambia.
