Collaborating to Grow Bitcoin in Africa
Our work is strengthened by global and local partnerships that share our vision for open, inclusive, and accessible Bitcoin education.
We have proudly collaborated with:
A key supporter of our educational journey, Bitcoin for Fairness (BFF) played a foundational role in launching Bitcoin Zambia. Through their generous and consistent backing, we’ve grown into an independent and active community. BFF has supported a wide range of initiatives, including:
- Monthly Bitcoin meetups
- The Bitcoin Braai community gathering
- A Bitcoin mining site visit
- A journalism workshop
- A Bitcoin workshop for women
- Zambia’s first developers’ meetup
- The Crack the Orange Scholarship, empowering our members to deepen their learning
- Donations of books, hardware wallets, and a Lightning node
- Fully funded a Bitcoin Zambia member’s trip to attend the Adopting Bitcoin Conference in Cape Town, providing an opportunity to learn, network, and represent our community on an international stage.
Anita Posch
A key education partner since 2022, Anita Posch’s visit to Zambia was the catalyst for our community’s Bitcoin journey. Beyond leading impactful workshops and speaking at our meetups, Anita has:
- Spoken at the University of Zambia, the country’s largest university
- Appeared on national TV, radio stations, and local podcasts
- Been featured in the national newspaper, helping raise public awareness
- Worked alongside us to make Bitcoin education more accessible and relatable to everyday Zambians
Powering Bitcoin education through the Trezor Academy, we’ve hosted two successful workshops helping participants learn about Bitcoin self-custody and security. These sessions included the Trezor Academy curriculum and featured giveaways such as books, hardware wallets, T-shirts, stickers, armbands, and camera blinders.
Through the Crack the Orange (CTO) Scholarship, qualified Bitcoin Zambia members are given the opportunity to access high-quality training, mentorship, and resources to become Bitcoin community educators. This initiative helps grow a local pool of knowledgeable leaders who can teach and support others in their communities, multiplying the impact of Bitcoin education across Zambia.
With Blockstream Local, we hosted the first Liquid Network workshop in Zambia, introducing local Bitcoiners and enthusiasts to new tools and possibilities on Bitcoin’s second layer.
Wallet of Satoshi has come on board to support our monthly Bitcoin meetups and the BarberBTC pilot project—an initiative that aims to train barbers to introduce Bitcoin education, turning barbershops into vibrant community hubs for conversation, learning, and Bitcoin adoption.
Partnering with Free Routing Africa to host a Lightning Network Bootcamp in August, building local technical skills in Bitcoin scalability and routing.
Through this partnership, developers participating in our initiatives in Zambia can access node support and other essential services from Voltage. Their Mutiny Net feature offers a powerful sandbox environment, enabling builders to test their Bitcoin applications continuously and independently.
Local Communities
Our work is deeply rooted in local partnerships, with individuals, college campuses, and other groups to help spread Bitcoin awareness, organize meetups, and shape the future of open-source finance.
We collaborate with communities like Bitcoin Banamayo, Bitcoin Victoria Falls, Bitcoin Campus, Quantum Hash, Bitcoin Her, and Bantu Bitcoin.
We believe that collaboration is essential to meaningful, sustainable Bitcoin adoption. If you’d like to partner with us, let’s connect and build together.
